Storm prep system

Hurricane preparation, calm and methodical

Three phases. Three checklists. Tap a phase to see exactly what to do — and when.

March – May · ~2 hours

Before the season

Pre-season prep is the difference between a calm storm week and a panicked one. Finish these five items before June 1 and you'll never be scrambling for documents, photos, or fuel when a cone appears.

Items

5

  • Photograph every room and serial-numbered item

Cloud-backup the photos. Your insurer will ask for a baseline.

  • Save a copy of your policy declaration page off-device

Email it to yourself and a trusted contact.

  • Confirm your hurricane deductible amount in dollars

Not just the percentage — calculate the actual dollar figure.

  • Trim trees and secure outdoor furniture storage location

Don't wait for a named storm to make a plan.

  • Test generator, inspect fuel storage, replace batteries

Generators sitting unused 11 months a year fail when needed.

Document backup recommendations

Email yourself: declaration page, latest wind mitigation inspection, photos of every room, copies of driver's licenses and insurance cards, and emergency contacts. Store off-device — a phone in a flooded car helps nobody.
